SPECIAL EVENT CHILD CARE

What ages are included in LA Enrichment Academy’s special event childcare programs?

All of our programs are customized to meet the particular client’s needs. So while our programs normally provide childcare for children from 6 months to 12 years of age, we can easily expand our nursery or add a program for teenagers.

Where do you hold an on-site childcare program?

We work with the event planner and/or event venue to try to provide the best available space for childcare. Ideally, the childcare space is easily accessible to parents, easy to secure, and in a low traffic area, with restrooms in-room or nearby. We try to have all the rooms of the childcare program together, so we can properly monitor all rooms at all times.

How does LA Enrichment Academy keep track of the children?

The safety of the children is our biggest priority. We take check-in and check-out very seriously. Upon arrival, every parent enrolling their child completes a registration form that lists the persons authorized to pick up their child, as well as emergency contact number, and special information (e.g., allergies) about their child. Each child is given a nametag or wrist tag with their name and age on it. The nametag or wrist tag stays with them until they checkout. For infants, the nametag goes on their back. At check out, we compare the sign-in and sign-out signatures and may request to see the ID of the person who is checking-out the child. This ensures that every child leaves with the proper adult.

During the event, our staff constantly monitors the childcare area. Our staff is trained to question any adult attempting to enter the childcare area. An adult may pick up their child only after signing out. For large programs, we add even more security features.

Can parents check-in on their child during the event?

Yes. We have an “Open Door” Policy which means parents may check on their child at any time, provided they first check in with our on-site staff, so the staff may verify identity.

How can parents identify LA Enrichment Academy staff?

All LA Enrichment Academy caregivers wear a uniform of white polo shirts with the red and black LA Enrichment Academy logo and black pants, so they are easily recognizable.

What activities are provided for the children?

We offer a wide variety of age-appropriate games and activities depending on among other things, the age of the children, the available space and the duration of the event. These activities include active play (e.g., musical chairs, Simon Says, Duck Duck Goose), quiet play (board and card games), reading, dance, arts and crafts and even language lessons. For infants, we emphasize music, movement and social interaction. Whatever the age, we provide lots of activities to keep all the children entertained.

What supplies are needed for an infant?

For infants, please leave a fully stocked infant bag with us. The bag should Include: diapers, wipes, diaper cream, change of clothes, favorite snacks or beverages, bottle, and any special item for the child (e.g., pacifier, favorite toy, etc.)

What are LA Enrichment Academy’s staff-to-child ratios?

To ensure that every child receives the attention they need, LA Enrichment Academy's staff-to-child ratios are higher than the California state requirements. Our programs’ standard ratios are:

1 caregiver:     2 infants (6 mos. - 11 mos.)
1 caregiver:     3 toddlers (1 - 2 yrs.)
1 caregiver:     5 school age (3 - 12 yrs.)
1 caregiver:     8 teenagers (13 - 17 yrs.)

Can you accommodate a child with special needs?

Yes, if a child can be mainstreamed into our typical program with a minimal amount of adjustment. We can also accommodate special needs children through customized programs. For special needs programs, ratios are adjusted depending on the need.
